For this first birthday cake, the inspiration came from the party invitation and its beautiful retro aesthetic. The goal was to create a design that felt timeless, delicate, and perfectly suited to the celebration.
The cake features two tiers decorated with antique-style hot air balloons, intricate buttercream piping, and a soft palette of dusty blue, sage green, ivory, and warm neutrals.
Rather than using bright, traditional birthday colors, we chose muted tones to give the cake a gentle, nostalgic feel.
One of my favorite elements is the personalized plaque on the front of the cake.
Featuring the birthday child's initial, the plaque incorporates a miniature landscape inspired by the original invitation.
