Getting into the festive spirit and whipping up some holiday magic in the kitchen! Can't wait to see the twinkle in Santa's eye when he enjoys these tasty treats on Christmas Eve!
Creating a set of cookies inspired by The Nutcracker ballet is an absolute delight for me! It's a cherished theme during the holiday season, and I find immense joy in bringing it to life each time. These cookies were crafted with inspiration from the delightful designs of the Wilde Peach Party collection, perfect to be shared as favors at a special little girl's first birthday celebration.
Did you know that The Nutcracker Ballet made its debut at the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg, Russia, on December 17, 1892? Marius Petipa, a renowned choreographer, commissioned the esteemed Russian composer Peter Tchaikovsky to create the ballet, and the score drew inspiration from Alexandre Dumas' adaptation of E.T.A Hoffmann's tale.
However, it wasn't until Christmas Eve of 1944 that the San Francisco Ballet introduced "The Nutcracker" to its repertoire. Subsequently, it wasn't until the 1960s that the full-fledged production of the "Nutcracker" ballet gained substantial traction, evolving into an enduring Christmas tradition cherished across the United States.

Soft and chewy brown sugar cookies with sweet butterscotch chips. Yes, a whole bag of butterscotch chips in this recipe.
To me, butterscotch cookies taste like waffles loaded with syrup and are crispy and chewy.
In addition to creating a new flavor, I also experimented with painting these macarons with a dash of edible paint. It can really make a difference in the look of the cookies.
The macarons by itself were looking great, but I still wanted a bit more color and fun, so I decided to paint them with a brush, to give a blush pink brush stroke on top of the macaron shell. I love the effect.
They were perfectly crunchy, chewy, with the slight salty sweet caramel notes from the buttercream frosting and piece of caramel sandwiched in the center.
Simply scrumptious salted caramel macarons are bite-sized gems. Two incredible flavors come together to make these party-perfect macarons!
Two classic macaron cookies with a salty caramel center and vanilla~caramel French buttercream. Beautifully delicious.
